Wet Felted Autumnal Vessels

There has been a chill in the air and the leaves are starting to turn.  I think Autumn is one of my favorite seasons.  Being a lady of a certain age, I really can’t cope with the heat sometimes and find these cooler temperatures really comfortable. 🙂  As I was in an Autumn mood, I wet felted these two bowl using what I consider Autumn colors.

This little bowl is made with two colors of variegated Corriedale wool with a green silk blend and sari silk fibers on top.  There are also some pieces of sari silk ribbon cut up.  I repurposed a necklace I found at the charity shop for a little bit extra oomph.  It is about 4.5 inches high x 5.5 inches wide.  I really don’t think photos do my vessels justice as they are actually more vibrant in person.  The silk does crazy things and is quite shiny.  The green silk blend also has a bit of pink and blue in it and the Corriedale on the outside is a nice blend of green and pink.  I added a couple of extra layers, so this bowl is soft but nice and sturdy.  There is also a little orange heart inside!

The bowl above is made with Merino batt and Merino tops with a bit of sari silk.  There is also a little green heart inside. I was trying to lay out the tops to look more like leaf shapes and give it  a sense of movement. I really like the bottom of the bowl too and might decorate another one with the points going upwards. I added a bit of needle felting to some areas as some of the decoration migrated a little bit. I am quite happy with these!
